About Trout Nova Scotia

MANDATE:
Trout Nova Scotia is a registered non-profit Society whose mandate is to ensure an improved and sustainable trout fishery in the Province of Nova Scotia for future generations.

OBJECTIVES:
To be the leading voice for the trout fishery in Nova Scotia.
To work with all levels of government and other organizations to develop programs and policies that have a positive impact on trout, trout habitat and sustainable trout fishing practices.
To develop programs that promote the awareness of trout, trout habitat and sustainable trout fishing practices
To ensure continued public access to all lakes, rivers and streams in Nova Scotia

CURRENT ACTIVITIES:
Active member of the Inland Fisheries Advisory Council (IFAC).
Participant in the Recreational Fisheries Advisory Council (RFAC) meetings held across the province.
Working with Inland Fisheries to develop a Nova Scotia Trout Management Plan.
Participant on the Nova Scotia Salmon Association Acid Rain Mitigation Committee.
Developing Project HOOK (Help Outfit Our Kids) a program designed to educate youth about the joys of fly-fishing, conservation, environmental stewardship, trout and habitat.
Supporting the creation of a Habitat Stamp that will generate funds for the sole purpose of protecting and conserving fish habitat throughout the province.
Member of the Nova Scotia Public Lands Coalition.
Partnering with Margaree Salmon Association on the Lake O'Law Brook Habitat Restoration Project.
Application for charitable status.
Annual General Meeting and Trout Expo.
Annual Sport Outdoor Show.
Member and supporter of NS Public Lands Coalition.
Work towards insuring continued public access to waterways.
